Pen to Paper Writers’ Series

March 6, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Franklin County Public Libraries continues its popular writers’ series entitled “Pen to Paper,” with another exciting program scheduled for Monday, March 6, at 2:00 pm at the Carrabelle Branch Library. The next session will feature three writers, D. J. Mays, Tiffany Jo Howell & Ginnah Howard, who will be discussing Sci-Fi, Young Adult Fiction, and Biographical/ Historical Fiction. Local author D.J. Mays has always been a fan of science fiction. She began as an author with “The Rebel” in Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Leroni of Darkover anthology. After that, she spent years as a research scientist, publishing actual science rather than science fiction. Only recently has she been able to write full-time. Her trilogy, Tales of the Rebel League, is set in the near future after an attempted alien invasion. The trilogy books are Liberty Below Zero, The Key of Three, and Insight. She plans to continue the series but has also begun work on an unrelated science-fiction trilogy and a non-fiction book about her work with wild and domestic animals. Since her early days, Tiffany Jo Howell has been telling stories of helping her friends get in trouble and instigating mischief. Maybe she never grew up because children still gravitate to her wherever she goes. Perhaps this is why writing in an easy voice for the younger ones comes naturally to her. Tiffany originally hails from Minnesota but now lives with her husband and most perfect cat, Sweet Pea, along Florida’s Gulf Coast. One of her favorite writing spots is at the local sports bar, with music and sweet tea flowing. She will discuss her book, The Finder’s Tales: Marco. Ginnah Howard has written several books, including I’m Sick of This Already, Rope & Bone, Night Navigation, and Doing Time Outside. Though she didn’t discover writing until much later in life, she was a lover of books who could be happy for hours in stories. Her favorites were usually English orphans or a girl in the limberlost, characters wronged by people she loathed. She is a former English teacher with twenty-seven years of experience teaching at the high school level. Upon her retirement, she finally had more time to sit down to put words on the page.
